Good Start-Good Lesson

The last three weeks with Bro. Young and his family have been a huge blessing. Our first week we enjoyed a revival week at Victory Baptist Church.

The next week we were in Somerville Alabama with Somerville Baptist Church. God did a great work among both the adults and children. A couple of children made profession of salvation and many more found scriptural basis for assurance. On one night a dozen or more young children decided to surrender their lives to God so He could use them.

This last week Bro. Dave has been preaching the opening meetings at PCC. The students have enjoyed the preaching and are making decisions for God. It was good to see the Lord working in hearts.

God has been teaching me a lot about humility. I am learning that I need God’s grace more than I ever realized. 1 Peter 5:8 says that we should be clothed with humility. In order to do this I must be completely empty of self and be willing to lower myself as Jesus did. He is the best example of humility.

This submission is best described in Philippians 2. He made Himself of no reputation. He took the form of a servant, and obeyed God to the point of death. The very Creator of the universe brought Himself down to our level to serve and be beat. He didn’t come only to be praised but to die and rise again. Because of this humility God has exalted Him.

I’m not looking to be exalted. I desperately need God’s grace. I desire to know God. To love Jesus the way He deserves. This can only happen if Micah Self disappears.

Songs that Convict

These are two songs that always encourage/challenge me to do more for Christ.

I GAVE MY LIFE FOR THEE:
I gave My life for thee, My precious blood I shed,
That thou might ransomed be, and raised up from the dead
I gave, I gave My life for thee, what hast thou given for Me?

My Father’s house of light, My glory circled throne
I left for earthly night, for wanderings sad and lone;
I left, I left it all for thee, hast thou left aught for Me?

I suffered much for thee, more than thy tongue can tell,
Of bitterest agony, to rescue thee from hell.
I’ve borne, I’ve borne it all for thee, what hast thou borne for Me?

And I have brought to thee, down from My home above,
Salvation full and free, My pardon and My love;
I bring, I bring rich gifts to thee, what hast thou brought to Me?- Frances R. Havergal

I’LL WISH I HAD GIVEN HIM MORE (When sung by Evangelist Crabtree):
By and by when I look on His face,
Beautiful face, thorn shadowed face;
By and by when I look on His face,
I’ll wish I had given Him more.
More, so much more,
More of my life than I e’er gave before
By and by when I look on His face,
I’ll wish I had given Him more.

By and by when He holds out His hands,
Welcoming hands, nail riven hands;
By and by when He holds out His hands,
I’ll wish I had given Him more.
More, so much more,
More of my love than I e’er gave before,
By and by when He holds out His hands,
I’ll wish I had given Him more.

In the light of that heavenly place,
Light from His face, beautiful face;
In the light of that heavenly place,
I’ll wish I had given Him more.
More, so much more,
Treasures unbounded for Him I adore,
By and by when I look on His face,
I’ll wish I had given Him more- Grace Reese Adkins

I want to live out the fact of Christ’s sacrifice. Not just claim to believe it.
“Faith without works is dead.” Share the gospel, pray, love others, live for Christ. That’s every Christians calling.
